The Fall of the Dynasties in Kenya

9th March 2018 was the day the two sons of our founding heroes hammered the last nail to the dynasty rule in Kenya. They shook hands. The population of Kenya stands at about 50 million ruled by two Families and opposed by one.

Michela’s Book, IT’S OUR TURN TO EAT of 2009 explains clearly how the opposition and whistleblowers in Kenya are never doing it for the people but just so they are given a chance to sit at the dining table and eat as the 50 million Kenyans watch. This brings me to the all-time whistleblower, Raila Odinga.

The Kenyatta and the Odingas have been on opposing sides in the political arena in the country for decades now from 2002 when Uhuru Kenyatta was fronted by the then, President Daniel Arap Moi. Uhuru Kenyatta lost to Mwai Kibaki who was backed by all the KANU rejects including Raila Odinga.

After the hard fight as the opposition leader and President Uhuru Kenyatta going for his last term, the question of where he will go led to the handshake. The presidency was for the second time since independence likely to land into the hands of a son of a ‘nobody’.

The handshake is meant to ensure that the interests of the dynasties are secure and well taken care of but this is the last blow to the dynasties’ fall. In 2022 it will be the people against the Dynasties.
