Julius Malombe and Senator Wambua

As the BBI drum beats gain momentum, Kitui County Senator Enoch Wambua Kiio has continued to root for an establishment of Mwingi County.

The vocal Ukambani senator and a close ally to the former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka insisted on splitting Kitui into two counties on Saturday during the burial of constitutional lawyer Nzamba Kitonga.

Kiio took both Hon Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka on by reminding them that BBI will only make sense to the people of the larger Mwingi region if their proposal to have the section of the huge county split into two got included as earlier proposed.

“We as Kamba community we have spoken in one voice that there is a lot we want to be done in this region. First, we demand Kitui county to be divided into two, Mwingi and Kitui to make devolution resources benefit many of our people,” Senator Kiio said

The same proposal was presented to Raila Odinga during their “reggae” rally in Kitui earlier this year, but the same proposal was not included in the document.

Kiio, who has severally taken a swipe at the Kitui administration for “belittling” and marginalizing the Mwingi region in terms of developments faulted Gov Ngilu and Kivutha Kibwana for not giving the proposed splitting the deserving push.

“Today, before these people who elected me and God, I want to assure you, Hon Raila Odinga, that without the inclusion of that proposal in the BBI, people of Kitui county are going to have a problem with the document” – Sen Kiio added
